Survey - Deep-Sea ECOPs

This survey will enable the assessment of Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) aspirations, needs and challenges with the aim of strengthening their engagement with the science-to-policy interface through the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI) network.

DOSI is a global network of experts which integrates science, technology, policy, law and economics to advise on ecosystem-based management of resources in use in the deep ocean, and on strategies to maintain the integrity of deep-ocean ecosystems within national jurisdictions.

This survey intends to:

(i) Identify aspirations, needs and challenges faced by ECOPs from around the globe, and in particular those from low to middle-income countries, to engage in policy-making processes – at national, regional and international levels;

(ii) Examine the current role of DOSI in supporting ECOPs engagement in policy processes and

(iii) Propose a set of recommendations for the DOSI Steering Committee to take forward with a view to increasing ECOPs capacity for engaging in policy and decision-making.

PLEASE NOTE - ALL RESPONSES TO THIS SURVEY WILL BE ANONYMISED IN ANY EXTERNAL REPORTING.
